I don’t really do link round ups all that often, but I’ve resolved to do them more often (I’m going to try for once a week, but don’t hold me to it). I post a lot of links throughout the week so I figured I’d post the best ones on Sundays. First(ish) one- here goes!
When it came out some time last year that Hulu was going to start charging for their service, people were up in arms about it. I decided to wait it out to see how they would do it, stating that if they kept their then free service and charged for value added stuff, it wouldn’t be at all bad. Well, Hulu Plus was announced a few days ago and they did just that.
My friend Nick and a couple of his friends set up a new podcast called Couchcast. From their About page:
“Couch-Cast†offers a unique look into the minds of studio executives, Academy-Award winning actors, and the minds behind some of Hollywood’s biggest successes and failures. Or, at least it would, if we could get any of those people on the show. Strangely, none of them returned our phone calls. So, we’ll do the next best thing: make fun of them. Hardcore.
Check it out- it’s pretty funny and these guys know a lot about movies- so if you’re in to funny and movies, check it out!
The good people over at Nettuts+ have published a tutorial I wrote for them called Rock-Solid WordPress 3.0 Themes using Custom Post Types. In it I cover how to leverage 3.0’s new custom types to make it easier on yourself and on clients when creating different types of posts for you website. Head on over there and check it out!
A week or so ago, Gina Trapani wrote on her website about AppBrain, an Android app that inventories your apps, makes recommendations, and makes it easier to manage them. I installed it and played around with it, and have go to say, I’ve actually started using it more than the native Marketplace App. Read my review after the jump!
Recently, I made it practice to keep my most important web development resources in my bookmarks bar in Google Chrome (which is awesome, because I also use Bookmark Sync). These aren’t my development tools of course (Coda on Mac, Notepad++ and Filezilla on PC, Photoshop on both), these are online resources I use on a regular basis. Click on to see them!
I did this last year for 2008, where I alluded to a possible annual post; here we go! This time around I’m covering: toy, website, service, moment, and book.
When I got my Droid, one of the first things I did was tap into Android’s vast app market  to check out apps and widgets (modules you can throw on one of your home screens for instant access to some app or information). I’ve had the device about a month now and there are a few apps that have proved themselves useful and/or awesome. Here is a list of my favorites. Read More “My Favorite Android Apps”
Those of you who know me might be surprised that I got a Droidless than one year after I got the Blackberry Storm. Those of you who really know me aren’t surprised one bit. As soon as I saw an Android phone come to Verizon, I was interested. I’m highly dependent on Google (Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, etc. etc.), I missed a physical keyboard, and I did my thesis on Android, which means I can program on the platform. I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now- here are my thoughts.
When I started playing video games again in September, it was after almost a year of not playing (I’m back on wagon?). In my defense, there was a lot of great video game going-ons this season. Between the tried and true Xbox 360 and their online environment, and the newly priced Ps3, there is a wealth of choices for the video gamer this holiday season. Here is a rundown of what could be some great video game gifts this year.
