Mobile Matters! Google to change Search Rankings

If you’ve done a Google Search on your mobile device recently, you may have noticed that Google adds a bit of text in the search results alerting you to the fact that a website is (or is not) mobile friendly. This can have a big impact on your website’s search ranking.

With the rapid growth in the popularity of mobile devices, this is a nice way to let users know if they will have a good experience with they visit websites. Starting on April 21st, Google will take it one step further by penalizing non-mobile friendly sites.

What does that mean?

It means if your website is not optimized for mobile device (e.g. Responsive) your search ranking will take a hit and you will rank lower when people search for your website. In short, non-mobile friendly sites are bad for SEO.

How can I fix this?

The best thing you can do is make sure your website is mobile-friendly! I would recommend ensure your site is responsive, which means it automatically adapts to the size of the screen it’s being viewed on.

If you need a responsive site, or would like to talk more about what’s going to happen on April 21st, get in touch. I’d be happy to talk to you about it.
