My Prime Day 2025 Wish List

Things I’m Hoping to Buy on Amazon Prime Day 2025

With Amazon Prime Day 2025* upon us**, I was going through my Amazon Wish Lists to see if there’s anything worth picking up if the deals are good enough.

Turns out there are actually quite a few items that I’d like to pick up on deals as a reward for my patience.

I’ll get to them in a minute, but first, let me wax poetic about my Prime Day philosophy.

My Approach to Prime Day 2025 (and Black Friday)

The most important rule for me is this: Don’t buy things I wouldn’t buy anyway.

Mindlessly scrolling Amazon (or one of the many blogs that tell you the best deals) is a great way to spend more money than you would have on Prime Day, Black Friday, or any one of the other high sales holidays.

People love a good deal…but it’s only a good deal if you’re spending less than you would have spend.

So instead, you should make a list of things you want to buy and see if those are on sale.

Amazon Wish Lists make this super easy, but I’m sure you can vibe code your own solution these days.

The only exception to this rule for me is if I come across something for the household (family, dog, actual house, car, etc) that I don’t need right now but buy regularly. This falls under the, “I will definitely need this in the near future” bucket. Some things on that list:

  • Hygiene products like soap, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.
  • Paper products (plates, napkins, paper towels)
  • School/office supplies

…or any other non-perishable that makes it onto the weekly shopping list.

So quick sum up on what I’ll spend money on for Prime Day 2025:

  1. A predetermined list of consumer products that have a good (read: 20% or more) deal.
  2. Stuff that I need to buy on a semi-regular basis.

Alright. Now let’s get to the thinly veiled list of Amazon affiliate links***.

What I’m Looking for on Amazon Prime Day 2025

Obviously this is going to be a list of fun tech and smart devices…mostly.

eero Outdoor 7 router

Number 1 on my list is the eero Outdoor 7 router. I’ve had my eye on this since it was announced because the wifi to my shed, where I’ll often work or watch the Yankee game, is spotty at best.

This would solve a huge problem for me, so if I can get it for less than $400 (fingers crossed for $300), that would be fantastic.

Sonos Move 2

Sonos Move 2 -- the closest I'll come to a Prime Day 2025 impluse buy.

I’ve liked the idea of the Sonos Move 2 for a long time, but haven’t had reason to get it…until recently.

Last week I wrote about how I’m back to using Spotify because the HomePod has been an incredible disappointment and Apple Music fails at even the most basic music app functions.

So now that I’m using Spotify again, there’s a good opportunity for me to try out the Sonos ecosystem — and the Move 2 feels like a good first foray, as it has lots of utility.

Ideally I’d like to see this dip below $320 for me to pick it up.

UGREEN NASync DXP4800 4-Bay Desktop NAS

I have a complex backup system that I’m rather proud of, but the weakest link is definitely my current NAS.

It’s underpowered, and it doesn’t power back on after a long outage. It is plugged in to a UPS, but that only lasts so long. I need to remember to turn it back on.

I would also like a NAS that can do fast backups AND serve as a media streaming machine. The UGREEN NASync DXP4800 seems like it fits the bill quite nicely. And if I can get it for around $400, it will give me a little extra budget for bigger drives.

Aqara Smart Lock U200

I’ve long wanted a smart lock, and the Aqara Smart Lock U200 seems perfect. And honestly, the price right now is under $200 — already a good deal, I reckon.

This one works with HomeKit and Apple Home Key, and is sleek, and looks easy to install. It’s been on my wishlist for a while, but has generally been out of stock.

I think Prime Day 2025 is when I finally pick it up.

Eve Aqua Smart Water Controller

Getting a smart controller for your hose kind of sounds crazy, but my kids have left the hose running overnight too many times for me to count.

The Eve Aqua looks like a cool solution to that, as well as introducing a little more fun into the backyard water play.

KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 Quart Tilt Head Stand Mixer

KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 Quart Tilt Head Stand Mixer

I asked my wife if there’s anything she’s had her eye on, and she had the KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 Quart Tilt Head Stand Mixer locked and loaded.

She’s taken up baking as a hobby and is really, detrimental to my health, good, and this appears to be the gold standard for mixing.

Considering some colors are already sale, I suspect we will pick this up this week.

What About You?

OK you’ve seen my (largely nerdy) list; now it’s your turn. Leave a comment with something you’re looking for on Prime Day 2025!

*** OK I wouldn’t say this is a thinly veiled way to do an affiliate links post. I actually wanted to write this. The affiliate links were just a happy byproduct

For many in the WordPress space, when an idea strikes it’s easy to drop what you’re doing and spend a couple of days building a prototype or MVP. But if you’re actually going to try to build a business off of this idea, should you whimsically work on it and release it to the world? I would argue no. In fact, crafting a story is more important than crafting a product at first.
