Movie and Game Reviews, and Such

  • Spiderman 2… 4.5

First of all, you might notice something different. This layout still needs some work, but i have some news before i get to the review. Blogger may no longer be my host of choice for my blog. As soon I as get the hang of WordPress, I will be making the switch. They have catergories and what not. It will be cool. But onto the review.

The movie was in between good and great. On the one hand, the fighr scenes, special effects, and some of the dialogues were really cool. As for acurracy, im not to sure. But either way it was a good movie.
It picks up 2 years after the 1st one, and Peter is poor, Aunt May is poor, MJ is in a play, Harry took over OZ Corp. Harry hired Doc Octavious to do some thing with fusion or something, but anyway, it goes wrong. Duh.
I dont wanna give too much away, which i think the previews kinda did, cause for me anyway, i was anticipating the next big thing as shown by previews. So if you havent seen one, A- where have u been? or B- Good Job Avoiding them Either way, its definatly a movie worth seeing. twice. Later

  • The Stepford Wives…Good

Before the review i just wanna let everyone know that I am changing the way I do reviews. Instead of that crazy complex 0-10 scale, there will be a scale of zero through five.
0- Im suing for my 8 bucks back.
1 – dont waste your time or money.
    2 – ehh
    3 – decent
    4- good
5- the amount of times u should see it in theaters… at least.

Now, on to the review. This was a 4. Better than I thought. Apparently its a remake from a movie in the 70s. It was nicely done, and very funny. Alot funnier than I thought it would be. Basically, Nicole Kiddman, who plays a woman named Joanne in the movie, is a high power TV exec, who gets fired. Her husband Walter, played by Matthew Broderick, is a VP under her, and he quits. For her- AWW. But seriously, they move to stepford, and Joanne notices the woman are weird and whatnot. Walter loves it, she thinks its wierd. Its a good lesson in Feminism and Chavanism. And you know, Nicole Kiddman is really hot. Later!

  • The Day after Tomorrow- 9.8/10

This movie was awesome. We will start with the visual effects, because there were alot. They were great. Its seemed like you were watching something that was happening as you watched it. It didnt look fake at all. The acting- great. Jake Gyllenhaal, of Donnie Darko fame, was great, as expected. He played Sam. Dennis Quaid played his father, Jack. The supporting actors were Emmy Rossum, the leading lady and Sam’s crush, and Dash Mihok, Sam’s best friend. They were also good. There was no bad acting in the film. But i will comment on the vice pres, played by Kenneth Welsh. He made me hate Cheney. Alot. He wasnt Cheney- but i mean, you could tell. The film took a shot at how Americans are, and how the view some parts of the world. It was pretty accurate. Anyway, if you dont know the story, Global Warming has caused the Ice Caps to melt, cause severe problems in the climate, and creating a new Ice Age that will freeze most of the Northern Hemisphere. Sam and his friends are in NYC, which will get rocked. They live in DC, but are at some school event. Jack is the scientist who figures out, with the help of others, that this new ice age is coming sooner than expected. You really get into the movie. Its like i said, your watching something that is happening. Its a movie you can really get into. and Sam and his dad have the Hero complex that make people like me think that i can do cool shit when put in the right situation. Only Complaint- there is one part where Sam and friends have to leave the library, where they are staying to keep warm. At that point, the eye of the storm is coming, where temperatures drop to so cold you will freeze on the spot, and some wolves escaped from the local zoo. all three of these come together. It was created for suspence, but it could have been done differently. But seriously- AMAZING MOVIE. Go See it.

*some of you may complain that i rate all movies like a 8 or better. my reasoning- i dont see bad movies. ’nuff said*

  • Troy – 10/10

Simply Amazing. Anyone who has read The Illiad and The Oddesy, or who has heard the story of Achillies knows this story. And It was great. The acting was phenominal. Brad Pitt, as always, was amazing. Who surprised me was Eric Bana, who played Hector, Prince of Troy. After his less than wonderful role in Hulk, last years summer flop, he was simply great in this movie. He showed great emotion and his fight with Achillies was awesome. Orlando Bloom was also great. Though I was a little dissapointed in his character, Paris- brother to Hector, and kind of the reason Troy took place.
If you dont know the story, Greece was the serious power house of the world at that time. They had most of the world, with the acception of Troy, taken over. The Trojans wanted peace, and so they spoke with King Menelaus, king of Sparta, and made a treaty. Menelaus is brother to Agamemnon, King of Kings- ruler, more or less, of the world. Well Paris took Helen, Menelaus’ wife, back to Troy. Menelaus was less than happy. So he gets Agamemnon, and they go to Troy. Achillies fought for Greece, but not really. He had no alligence. Why he fought for a king he hated- i dont really know. But anyway- the movie is the epic and amazing battle of troy. Cinimatography- awesome. Action Sequences- awesome. Acting- awesome. Helen- HOT, which is awesome. You really cant go wrong with this movie. Go See it! Later

  • Van Helsing- 6.5/10

It was decent. Action scenes were great. But it was kinda cheezy and the storyline was ehh. It could have been alot better. There was kind of alot of blasphmy in the movie, but I guess when you are banashing a man who made a deal with the devil, you have to have it. Van Helsing is a man who was taken in by the council in Rome sometime in the early, ohh, 1700s maybe? The movie takes place in 1888. Dracula is close to finishing his plan to make the world his. There is the girl, who is part of a family who is sworn against Dracula, but this fight is between Van Helsing and Dracula. I dont wanna give too much away incase you do see it, but its not a must see. If you go, go for the action scenes and the fights, but not the storyline. Later!

  • The long awaited G-Mail Review- 8.5/10

This is by far the best e-mail client I have ever seen. Ever. Not only is it 1 Gig of storage, but the look and feel is very smooth. It uses labels instead of folders, and you can archive your email. Once you apply a label, everything with that same label is grouped together. Then you click on the name of the label, and boom, there are all those archived emails. Also, it keeps email conversations grouped together, auto applies a label to each message in the conversation, and keeps a count. Say I email you, and label it work. You reply, and I reply back. In the work label, there will be the 1st message i sent you with the number 3 in parenthasis. You can search your e-mail with the search bar on top, and star important ones, which go under their own label, and come up 1st in a search. Anybody you e-mail automatically becomes a contact, and they are groups under contacts, and then frequent contacts. However, when someone e-mails you, you cannot simply click an “Add Contact” button like most e-mail clients. I took off a point for that. Its pretty important. The other 1/2 point came off bc as far as i know, you cant make sublabels. No big deal, but id like to see that. Anyway, Then you have the normal e-mail features and whatnot. But its just so much cooler in G-mail. And O yeah- if you have the gmail window open and your signed in, it auto refreshes. that is awesome. So if you can- GET GMAIL. JCasabona@gmail.com

  • GodSend- 9/10

This is a movie that will make you think- as well as scare the shit out of you. It questions morals, religion, and playing God. There is alot of symbolism and whatnot and it will keep you guessing the whole time- or atleast while your not jumping out of fear. Its freaky. And wierd- and amazing. If you havent seen the preview – or even if you have- its about these parents who lose their son when he gets hit by a car. There is a doctor, Robert Williams, has perfected a way to clone an individual by using just one cell. This baby is exactly the same in everyway, except for one. You see- the cells used in the prcedure have managed to maintain memories for Adam’s, the son, first life. But there is a twist. See it if you like thinking- or being scared shitless. I liked it and you will too- unless your coburn.Later!

  • A Clockwork Orange…no rating…

There are only so many movies that will seriously make you reflect on your life, and then the movie, on what you just watched, and then on your life again, and make you think about the morals that were just explored in that movie, and how it relates your life. All of these movies are viewed in your freshman year of college. Well there was Donnie Darko, Reqium, and now, A Clockwork Orange. A movie in which every character has their moral views put into question. It starts off with Alew and his group of old fellows, going out for a night of ultraviolence. He spoke strangly. Anyway, so they go out, beat up a hobo, get into a gang fight, and then rape a woman and beat his husband. The next day he “puts his crew in place” by showing them whos boss. That night, while trying another place to find a woman, He kills her and goes to jail.
Let me take a moment to tell you about Alex. He is a high schooler, lives with his parents. Has a social advisor. Likes “Ludwig Van”. Now he is sentenced to 14 years in prison. In 2, however, he is offered freedom as long as he “cooperates”. SO he goes through this procedure that basically brainwashes him so whenever he is presented with any violence, ie, beating, raping, and whatnot, he becomes horribly sick. When released, his parents kick him out, the hobo beats him, is friend betrays him, and people try to make him kill himself. Also, he cannot listen to The 9th Symphony, because it was played durring his treatment. Now, he really has no free will. So the question presented is: Is violence because of freewill better or worse that being good without freewill? See the movie, tell me what you think. At first you will most likely hate it (i did) but by the end, you will love it. Later

  • The Punisher- 8/10

I really enjoyed this movie. It was very entertaining. The actions scenes where he owned were great, but I really got into the movie especially when the family was being killed. This had some of the funniest, best deaths too. They were just funny, or you just said “wow”. However, there were some corny puns and basically the corny comic book stuff that was there because punisher was in fact a comic book. If you want to be entertained, go see it. If you want to see a film that will make you think and give you some higher meaning in life, you could maybe get one out of this movie. Later.

If you want peace, prepare for war.

  • Hell Boy- 7.8/10

Yes- I was pleasently surprised by the movie. I went in thinking it was over done, but didnt know to much about the comic. At first I thought it dealt to much with the paranormal and that kind of weird stuff. But hey, it worked for ghostbusters, right? This also dealt with religious stuff. What really made me like the movie was one of the last sceens. Myers, who in essence i guess was Hell Boy’s “partner” said, “Your Father GAVE you a choice.” Which could be taken a few different ways. The acting was decent. Selma Blair was Selma Blair. And some of the jokes were lame. Those one liners you usually find me saying. haha. But all in all the movie was good. There was this one Nazi guy was freakin nuts with these blades. He was pretty cool. O yeah, and it ended with Myers saying, “What makes a man a man?…not how he starts things, but the decision he makes to end them…” So see it if you want, but i wouldnt say its a MUST SEE. Later.
