It’s the biggest US-based conference for people in the WordPress community and at this point, it feels a lot like a college reunion to me. But there are also goals I’d like to accomplish while I’m there. If you’re spending your own money to get there, you’ll likely want to make the most of your WordCamp experience too. While it can be overwhelming, there are a few simple things you can do to make sure you maximize your conference weekend.

(more…)A little over 3 years ago, I moved away from Scranton, PA. It was the right decision, of-course. I got married and my wife and I got a place closer to where she worked. After living there for over a decade (between college and post-graduate life), I can say I was ready.
But there is something I still miss from those days: teaching inside of a classroom.

(more…)I’ve been thinking a lot about the changing landscape of web design and development, and I believe there’s already a fast-moving shift in how customers are approaching getting online. I may elaborate more later, but here are the overall thoughts.
If you haven’t been following the dev chats in the WordPress Slack team, there’s a lot of confusion around exactly when WordPress 5.0 will ship. Release Candidate (RC) 1 is out now, and RC2, as I write this, is around the corner. These should signal that the answer is “soon” but there has been no commitment. The team is ignoring the fallback dates in January, and it seems “as soon as possible” is the current target. Many have already written thoughts on what that means for the community. I’m here to tell you what your plan should be.
Well it’s that time of year, where there are lots of deals that I’d rather buy for myself than for others. I think nothing better encapsulates that than the digital deals going on in the WordPress /online worker space. I mean don’t get me wrong, I’d love to get a great deal on hosting.
