  • Facebook Places

    A couple of weeks ago Facebook announced the latest service in their social networking scheme, Places. It allows you to ‘check-in’ using your iPhone or the mobile web and post your location to your Facebook profile. You can also tag friends and see who is nearby. I asked my students- college freshmen- what they thought of Facebook Places and got some pretty good replies. Let’s take a look!

  • Couchcast

    My friend Nick and a couple of his friends set up a new podcast called Couchcast. From their About page:

    “Couch-Cast” offers a unique look into the minds of studio executives, Academy-Award winning actors, and the minds behind some of Hollywood’s biggest successes and failures.
    Or, at least it would, if we could get any of those people on the show. Strangely, none of them returned our phone calls. So, we’ll do the next best thing: make fun of them. Hardcore.

    Check it out- it’s pretty funny and these guys know a lot about movies- so if you’re in to funny and movies, check it out!

  • Quick Tip: Facebook Privacy Settings

    Facebook, at their annual F8 Conference in San Fransisco, announced that they were expanding the reach of social networking to make it easier for 3rd party sites to access your information on Facebook. This sounds awesomely wonderful if you don’t care about the info you put online. A possible plus is full integration between your likes and related sites. Maybe you “Like” a director on Facebook, so IMDB recognizes it and changes it’s homepage to some of his upcoming work for you. However, you may also see that this is big brother horrifying. It’s also opt-out, not in. So today’s Quick Tip is how to opt out.

  • My Online Development Resources

    Recently, I made it practice to keep my most important web development resources in my bookmarks bar in Google Chrome (which is awesome, because I also use Bookmark Sync). These aren’t my development tools of course (Coda on Mac, Notepad++ and Filezilla on PC, Photoshop on both), these are online resources I use on a regular basis. Click on to see them!

  • Quick Tip: Manage Call List with Google Maps
