The Belkin MagSafe Mount for Studio Display

I ordered the Belkin iPhone Mount with MagSafe for Mac desktops and displays in December, and it came in last week. My initial impression: it’s nice — way nicer than the laptop one.

Here’s the shot from my iPhone on the mount, first with, then without, Center Stage:

Here’s what I like about it:

  • It’s compact and folds up nicely
  • It’s fully adjustable for tilt, and the head slides so you can adjust the phone to sit closer or further from you.
  • It can be mounted on a tripod. This will likely replace All of the other phone tripod mounts I have.
  • The MagSafe is quite strong. I have the Peak Design case1 and the phone stayed mounted no problem.

All-in-all I’m really happy with this purchase. I highly recommend it if you have a monitor and want to use your iPhone as a webcam — whether or not you use Continuity Camera to do it.

    Smoking Cigars with my Grandfather

I guess this is technically my first cigar. This past June was the 8th anniversary of 2 significant events in my life: My grandfather (Pop, pictured above circa 1989) passed away. I started smoking cigars. I thought about this while I was walking around my back patio last Friday, in silence, smoking a cigar. It reminded me of an…

  • The Simplest Solution

    [audio src="https://episodes.castos.com/5f436edb798df2-94459192/the-simplest-solution.m4a" /]

What’s up with all of the acquisitions? What are we even doing in the WordPress community? How much of a say do we really have on the open source project? These are big questions, but as my friend William of Occam said, “”entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity.” Or as it’s often (but maybe incorrectly?) paraphrased, “The simplest solution is often the best solution.”

But whether or not that’s actually the principle behind Occam’s Razor, it’s still a good one. And that helps us answer the above questions, on this week’s WP Review.

Lately I’ve been building a bunch of landing pages for various projects, courses, and digital events. And ever since reading Marketing Made Simple by Donald Miller, I’ve been putting a lot more effort into them in hopes that they provide better information and convert. To make sure I cover everything I need to, here’s my…
