  • 40 Days of Help

I went to Catholic school my entire life, from Pre-K all the way up to when I got my Master’s Degree. While I haven’t always been the best at practicing my religion, something I have always done was adhere to the activities surrounding Lent: no meat on Fridays, and to ‘give something up’. The real reasoning behind giving something up is to have you do something that will ultimately make you a better person, hopefully in some long-lasting fashion. That’s why this year I wanted to do something different, and why I created a new website: 40 Days of Help.

  • Wednesday Scrapple 1

I’ve been sharing a lot of links and such lately so I figured I’d try one of these Scrapple posts that Colin introduced me to.  Here we go!

I’ll do a bigger write up on this (eventually), but every Tuesday you can pick up the OnePlus One without an invite. I absolutely love everything about this phone. You should check it out. [#]

My co-worker Craig created a neat new WordPress plugin that will map your Instagram photos. I will be using it to map where I’ve smoked cigars. [#]

I’m trying to sell my Google Glass for $600. That’s less than 1/2 the price. So far, there have been no bites. However, a 3 pack of notebooks went for $950 on eBay. Original price? $10. Supply & Demand man. It’s crazy.

Uber is now in Scranton. This makes me incredibly happy. It will be very nice to have it in a few months (but more on that later 🙂 ). [#]

I have 4 side projects I want to work on between now and June. I’ve made a timeline/matrix thingy. I will post more about that later, but it’s the first time I’m trying it.

I’ve been using Unmark for bookmarks lately. You should give it a try. I really dig it. [#]

  • Finding the Right Wedding Photographer

It’s been a while since I’ve written about the wedding. Erin and I have chosen and venue and a church and I’ll write about that process later, but this weekend we started looking at wedding photographers so I thought I’d share some of my initial thoughts on that process. We have just started meeting with some very talented folks, but we haven’t made any decisions yet.

  • Don’t Fear the Learning Curve

One scene in a movie that I will always remember is from The Matrix. Neo, finally disconnected from the Matrix, is learning new skills by having them ‘uploaded’ to his brain. The culmination of the scene is when he famously says to Morpheus, “I know Kung-Fu,” and they fight. I think about how great it would be to learn this way; just plug in and have knowledge transferred directly to me. Of-course, we know that’s impossible (at least right now ;-)). We have to learn by reading, watching videos, attending class, and other tradition methods. It’s not always easy and it could be discouraging. That’s why we need to be mindful of the learning curve.

  • I’m Having a Fire Sale!

…or I’m just selling some things. I have a propensity for collecting tech and other things or wanting new tech, so I’ve decided to get rid of some things in order to clean out my apartment, and get funds for new toys (or a wedding that I’m saving for, I suppose). Some of the things I’m selling include a new Moto X, Google Glass, Xbox 360, and PS3. Go to my For Sale page or the gallery after the jump to check out the goods! If you see anything you like, get in touch.

  • Predictions for 2015

In the last of my old year/new year posts, I want to talk about some things I think will happen in 2015 (technology-wise). It seems like every year, tech is getting better but there’s a few things that I think will really take the cake this year.
