Answer Questions that are Being Asked
Perhaps you’ve heard of the Socratic Method? At The University of Scranton, we loved good old Socrates, so we studied him and his methods a lot. The general idea, derived from how he would debate people, is to ask a series of questions until you get to the truth of the matter. He would often question people until they backed themselves into corners. Another, similar method is the “5 Whys.” You keep asking why until you get to the real root of the issue. The idea here is that you want to solve the right problem, so you need to know what the real problem is.
An Answer no one is Looking for
Ever try to give an answer to a question you don’t really understand? Or put a different way, when you do something, are you asking the right questions? Perhaps you’ve had an idea you knew was so good that you had to do it. There’s no way people won’t be onboard. Then you come to learn that what you created is nice, but it’s answering a question know one is asking.
Over the last few weeks, these articles have answered questions you’ve asked me. It feels great to know what kind of content subscribers are looking for; I know we all have a finite amount of time and I want to make this worthwhile. When I did the AMA the lead to people asking me questions, it created some good conversations.
Solving the Right Problems
I’ve been having a lot more conversations lately; I’ve been asking business owners questions about training, support, and video. I’ve been asking students how they feel they best learn. I’m finally asking the right questions, to solve to the right problems. I love teaching, and I want to teach people what they want to learn. To that end, I’ve been busy. Right now, I have 3 places where people can learn:
- How I Built It: My podcast is doing great. Here is where you can learn from business owners and developers about what they’ve created. The insight has made me a better business owner. I’ve even started a Patreon to go deeper into certain topics, do extended interviews, and more.
- WordPress in One Month: My online WordPress courses. I just completed a general HTML and CSS course. Over the next couple of months, I’ll be adding lots of great content and working with product and service owners for better training. I’ll also be rolling out memberships. - Learn to Build: This is my latest site. Instead of courses, it’s going to focus on webinars. And instead of WordPress, it will be general web development. The first 3 are scheduled. The main idea behind these webinars is that in an hour or less, we will build something. I’m really excited to launch this. I love teaching beginners, and these are created for those who have little to no experience.
