    WordPress Plugins I Can’t Live Without

    I work with WordPress on a daily basis. By working within my own sites, setting up new sites, and testing new things, I come across a lot of WordPress tools. As a result, I have a group of WordPress plugins that I’ve come to rely on. There are some that are site specific (like WooCommerce and LearnDash on this site), but there are also those plugins I install on every single WordPress site I set up. Here’s a list of those WordPress plugins in no particular order.

    Create a Temp/Splash Page in WordPress

    Often times I will be working on a WordPress theme that I want to live test, but I don’t want to reveal it to the world yet. The solution would be to throw up a temp page while you work. However, you may have noticed that throwing an index.html file in the WordPress directory or similar solutions break WordPress. Today I’ll tell you how to get around that.

    Safe Social Media: Your Blog

    For the final installment of the Safe Social Media Series, I’m going to talk about our blogs. As you can tell, my blog is an amalgamation of everything I post/share on the Internet. My shared links and Twitter feed are to the right and I link to my more popular social networks, on top of writing articles on tech, politics, and whatever else catches my interest. You’re blog gives you the most control over your online presence, but it’s also the most insightful into who you are. For that reason, it takes the most upkeep.

    Info Overload- The New Design

    I hadn’t realized it, but next month will be 2 and a half years since my last redesign, which is considerably longer than my previous time between designs; I was young and impressionable and didn’t know what I wanted. But now something is different. My needs in 2007 were different than my needs now. Then, this was just a place for blog entries (and the occasional trying out a new web dev trick). Now information sharing has increased 10 fold. I have shared thoughts and links on Facebook, Google Reader, Twitter, and here. The new design needs to reflect that, especially since my day-to-day blogging has decreased with the advent of Twitter. I present to you: Info Overload. If you’re in a feed reader, click on through.
