    iPod Video

    Hello All, I’m doing that thing that I sometimes do to try to win free stuff. This time- An iPod Video. I know what you are probably thinking. I bash this thing all the time, why would I want one. Well, the fact of the matter is the video isn’t like the other iPod. So before bashing this one, I’d like to try it out. But only for free. I only need 4 people for this one, and then you can post your link in the comments if you’d like.

    As a side note, I still think Rio makes the best music players, and that will not change. But until Rio makes a “Video Carbon”, I will have to submit to this iPod. Also, my friend Mekosh mentioned to me that after 7 years he is switching from WinAmp to iTunes. I suppose if I get the iPod Video, I will have to too. It makes me mad that they don’t have .wma support, but apparently iTunes now converts to mp3. Later

  • “You Simply Can’t Steal WiFi…” Intresting column about the WiFi arrests..

    “Like many in the tech community, I found it rather disturbing that someone could be arrested, and then charged with stealing a WiFi signal. What a complete waste of taxpayer resources. I believe (hope) that the judge who sits on the bench will throw out the case.” I agree 100%. Using WiFi is not illegal. Plus, if you leave your front door open, you asking for visitors. If you don’t take the time to secure your network, people are going to use it.

    Mobility!

    So Im away for the weekend at the lovely Woodloch Pines Resort– A resort in northernish PA- Hawly- kinda near the Poconos. Anyway, There is a resort side- R&R if you will, and a business side- one aspect of which is the real nice 18 hole golf course they have. We- my family, friends and I are staying in the springs- a development (if you want to call it that)- built around the golf course. They are given to larger guest groups- but owned by other guests in a time share type manor. This of course lead me to believe that there was at least one wireless network I can steal from. I was right. There are actually 2- but the other one is very weak. But also, on the resort (in the main lobby and other select places) you can connect to their guest WiFi Network. I absolutly love the fact that I can pick up a connection from just about anywhere with my laptop b/c of the enviroment. My school is also getting like that. Soon, WiFi will be available anywhere.     Teen gets 18 months for Blaster Worm

    In a story on Wired News, I read that Jeffrey Lee Parson, who is only 19, will be getting an 18 month prison sentence for releasing a variant of the MS Blaster Worm that plagued many computers and shut down many networks, including my school’s, over a year ago. It is said that the damages from the virus cost over $1 Million. Along with prison time, he also has to do community service, pay restitution for the damages and stay under supervision for 3 years after he is released. Read More here. Later!

    Free Mac Mini. They did the same deal with the Ipod. You have to sign up, giving your address, taking a survey, and then signing up for one of their offers. I signed up for the CitiBank Credit Card, which I plan on Cancelling if/when I am approved. Now I need 10 people to click my link and sign up. You know, that whole dealy. So, please sign up.

    I know what some of you might be thinking- “Joe, Use a Mac?!?! Thats crazy!” And well, yes it is. BUT it is a free computer. Who can say no to that??? and LOOK AT HOW SMALL IT IS. Anyway, check it out. Thanks for the help! Later!

    Computers: My best friend, my worst enemy

    Ok- so i have been formulating this post for a while. Its really just a commenting of two news articles I read. the first one I meant to post a while back, but didnt get around to it. Its about how over use of the computer causes glaucoma. Now, I can honestly say that over the past 2 or 3 years, my vision has gotten progressivly worse. Im not saying its from the computer. But I do use it alot. Like, its my job, my major, and my hobby. The Second article is about how men using laptops on their laps can cause testicular dysfucntion, such as low sperm count. In short, the heat generated from the laptop, resting on the lap of the user, is transfered in to the testicular area, where it raises the temperature serveral degrees, and does it work. Sweet. So Im going blind and im not gonna have kids. Later!
