#Podcast30

#Podcast30

I’m doing @arithisandthat’s #Podcast30 challenge. For 30 days, I’ll listen to at least 1 podcast and add it to this page. You can also find the tweet thread here.

December 1st: The Daily Stoic

First up is The Daily Stoic by @RyanHoliday. I generally start my day with this podcast. It’s short, affirmative, and goes great with the book, which I already read each morning.

December 2nd: Downstream

@loudmouthjulia and @jsnell talk about stream and TV trends, and I love it.

This week was Netflix-heavy and a fascinating look into various platforms’ global strategies.

December 3rd: Bad Blood: The Final Chapter

I loved the book Bad Blood. In this podcast, host John Carreyrou finishes the story, as he recaps everything that happened with Theranos. I also pay for the bonus episodes, which cover the on-going trial.

December 4th: The Audience Podcast

My friend @mattmedeiros talks about what Tim Ferris learned about podcasting on the @CastosHQ Audience podcast. If you don’t feel like listening to Tim for 3 hours, this 12 minute summary is great!

December 5th: Connected

Connected is one of my favorite tech podcasts. The hosts, Myke, Stephen, and Federico have great chemistry, cover a wide range of topics, and provide great insight into the tech world (mostly Apple). Plus there’s. the japes.

This week Myke is away but Stephen and Federico talked about general news and Mac utilities, before answer listener questions.

December 6th: Caper

Who doesn’t love a good heist story? Caper is a short-form podcast that brings you a new heist every week from around the worth. This week, it’s the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Heist. Something that took place in Boston, in 1990, and is still unsolved!

December 7th: Upgrade

Upgrade is a stop what you’re doing and listen show for me. Great industry analysis, fun conversations, and the origins of one of my new favorite podcasts, Downstream.

This week Jason Snell and Dan Moren (filling in for Myke Hurley) talk unshipped Apple features, 2022 rumors, and an interesting convo on e-readers!

December 8th: Deliverability Defined

I constantly wonder how I can grow and better engage my newsletter, and Deliverability Defined from ConvertKit is the perfect podcast for that.

This week, hosts Alyssa and Melissa take us through something that’s been increasingly on my mind lately: referral programs!

December 9th: Haileywood

Haileywood is the story of when Bruce Willis basically tried to buy the town of Hailey, Idaho. It’s incredibly interesting.

This week, host Dana Schwartz tells us about the time Bruce financed and starred in a Kurt Vonnegut film that…did not do well.

December 10th: Left, Right, and Center

Left, Right, and Center is 1 of 3 political podcasts I listen to weekly (and the 3rd one is on hiatus). Each week Josh Barrow (sadly leaving at the end of this year) leads a balanced panel through the political news of the week.

This week, Josh and 2 of my favorite panelists, Liz Bruenig and Ross Douthat talk at home COVID tests, Russia/Ukraine, and Child care. The rants from everyone are A+.

December 11th: I Hear Things

I Hear Things is a fortnightly podcast by Senior VP of Edison Research, Tom Webster. He talks data, trends, and how to be a better podcaster.

This week he talks about why people might YouTube for podcasts over their primary podcast app!

December 12th: Advisory Opinions

Advisory Opinions by Sarah Isgur and David French. They do a great job of breaking down complicated cases that usually only get the hot take treatment on Twitter.

The latest talks about funding for school & judges choosing successors.

December 13th: Podcast Advertising Playbook

If you have a podcast, Podcast Advertising Playbook by Heather Osgood is a must listen! It’s fantastic information about the ever-evolving landscape of podcast ads.

This week, she talks to Sam Sethi about 2022 and the future of podcasting. It’s fascinating!

December 14th: AppStories

Each week @viticci and @johnvoorhees take a look at apps across the Apple ecosystem and have been a big inspiration for my own workflows.

This week: they hand out awards for the best apps of the year!

December 15th: The Pen Addict

Every week, @dowdyism and @imyke talk pens and stationary and it’s fantastic.

I always want to buy something after listening, but *sometimes* I don’t. My wife is proud of my restraint.

December 16th: Cortex

This is a drop everything and listen podcast for me.

This episode, @imyke and @cgpgrey talk yearly themes. The yearly theme has had a profound effect on how I plan and set goals, so I always look forward to this.

December 17th: Automators

A podcast all about automation!

This week, @RosemaryOrchard and @MacSparky talk Focus modes! Ideas abound!

December 18th: Stuff You Should Know

My first podcast.

On Saturdays they do selects from the archive and this week’s is a great one: the (original) Star Wars Holiday Special.

December 19th: Mac Power Users

@MacSparky and @ismh talk all things Mac!

This week, they talk home offices and workspaces, which is a lot of fun.

December 20th: The Chirp

I’m cheating a little because I was on this one…but I do listen to every podcast interview I do (weird? not weird?)

It’s a show about money and relationships, and I got to tell some stories I don’t usually tell.

December 21st: Killer Psyche

Former FBI agent and criminal profiler Candice DeLong breaks down some interesting murder cases.

If you have Wondery Plus, you can access her update to the Gabby Petito case.

December 22nd: Top 4

Top 4 by @marcoarment and @tiffarment. A fun podcast where they count down their top 4 [insert pretty much anything!]

This month: road trip songs! Listening to them talk about music is always an absolute delight.

December 23rd: The Download

The Download. A new podcast (maybe?) from @evoterra and @BryanBarletta.

Hope to see more in 2022! Also +1 million internet points to Evo for saying Automattic owns WordPress dot com, and not just WordPress!

December 24th: Very Serious

Josh Barro is probably my favorite news / politics podcaster. He’s leaving Left, Right, and Center, so I’m psyched he’s started a new one. Here’s the trailer.

December 25th: Real Time 1960s

This SUPER interesting podcast covers the 1960s as a “real time” podcast, releasing date-aligned episodes and newscasts.

December 26th: Recipe of the Day

Recipe of the Day by Christine Pittman.

I interviewed Christine for my own show and I love this! As parents of now 3, my wife and I are always looking for new/easy things to make!

December 27th: Robot or Not

@jsnell asks @siracusa questions about words and concepts. This episode is about “Next Wednesday.”

December 28th: PodCraft

…by way of Podcast Pontifications.

@evoterra surfaced this episode of Podcraft by @thepodcasthost, and I thought it was great – growing your podcast by doing question research. Fantastic advice!

December 29th: Stuff You Missed in History Class

I love this show and the interesting stories not often told.

This week: Robert Cornelius, the man credited with the first selfie.

December 30th: The Matt Report

This is a fantastic conversation with about starting a physical business in a highly competitive market: Higher Ed!

I love the point about pricing to be premium, not bargain.

I have a confession: over the summer, I panicked a little bit. I wasn’t sure I was going to hit my podcast sponsorship goal for the year. I was short on sales, slacking a little, and you know…the whole pandemic thing. So I panicked. I reached out to a bunch of sponsors, made a couple…

I’ve been thinking a lot about podcast calls to action lately. I even talked about it on my new daily podcast, Podcast Workflows. Increasingly, I feel my stance on a pre-roll CTA, before you deliver any value, is bad. It’s like asking for the sale before someone knows who you are. It’s like asking blind…

I lived exactly 1/3 of my life in Scranton, PA. I moved there (more or less) in 2003 as a freshman at The University of Scranton. I stay there through undergrad and grad school, then taught there and worked in the IT department. I moved away from Scranton in 2016. That’s 13 of my 39…

    See You at Podcast Movement!

The last few years, I’ve skipped out on Podcast Movement, and last year I had pretty hardcore FOMO. So I decided this year I wouldn’t make the same mistake (it being geographically close made the decision much easier). This week I’m heading down to DC for a week of podcasting talk and events and I…
