• I was on the Living Your Passion Podcast

I had the pleasure of talking to DJ Waldow on his podcast, Living Your Passion. I contacted him shortly after his podcast launched over the summer and basically asked if he’d have me on the show. Lucky for me, I’ve very passionate about ‘making things on the web’ and just a little bit shameless.

It was a great conversation (and DJ said some very nice things about about me at the end- thank you!) and I recommend listening to it and all of his episodes. If you’re looking for a new passion or making a living out of your current one, this is a great source of inspiration.

    NEPAWP November Meetup: Blogger Chat!

This month we are switching things up a bit at the NEPAWP Meetup and bringing it back to basics- we’re talking all about blogging! It will be a pretty open discussion about all things blogging: starting one, running one, SEO, more comments, using social media, and more. If you have a question about blogging, join us on November 19th at 7pm at CoalWork: 544 Spruce Street, Scranton, PA. RSVP Here.

For good measure, if you want to comment with your blog link here or on the RSVP page, I will compile a list to send to the attendees!

    Why I Reuse Talks

Recently at one of the many WordCamps I’ve attended this year, the topic of reusing talks came up. It’s no secret I’ve been reusing my Responsive Design and WordPress talk at several events (not just WordCamps) but during the discussion a few folks mentioned that they will only give a talk once or twice, and there was a very strong opinion that you should never reuse a talk. I think that’s plain wrong, and here’s why.

WordCamps, Summits, and Coding, Oh My!

I’m hitting the final stretch of my speaking tour, with just 3 (maybe 4?)  WordPress events left for the summer before taking July off. I’m also giving a  TEDx talk in Scranton in August, but more information to come on that later. I won’t be off the grid though, as I have lots of great stuff planned in the Downtown Scranton area! More details and my speaking schedule after the jump.

    Upcoming News & Events

Whoa. Almost a month has gone by and I haven’t written a thing on this blog; sorry about that! Since officially announcing my new book, Responsive Design with WordPress, I’ve been working diligently to finish up all of the writing, reviews, edits, and design approvals. I’m happy to say that Monday I will be done completely with the book. In the coming weeks, there will be a lot going on, and I wanted to give everyone a heads up!
    <!–more–>

    About the Book

First and foremost, the book is set to go to print on November 20th, which should put it on the shelves by December 16th. If you can’t wait that long, the ebook is currently in production and should be out before that. I will update this post (and Twitter, and Facebook, and Google+) with the official release date for that.
In the coming weeks, I’ll probably have lots of news, links, sample readings, and even a couple of giveaways for the book so keep an eye out for that. I’ll tag everything on social media with #rwdwp.

    Upcoming Events

I’m also going on a bit of a speaking/events tour in the next few weeks. You can see the whole schedule here, but a couple of notable ones are:

    • November 19th at 7pm: NEPA WordPress (@nepawp) @ Vintage Theater in Scranton, PA. Phil Erb will be talking about local WordPress developments. I’ll be in attendance with discounts and more. RSVP here
    • November 21st at 6pm: NEP-Tech group @ Posh in Scranton, PA. I’ll be speaking for about my book, WordPress, and RWD in general. RSVP Here
    • December 7th: Tentatively I will be doing a WordSesh talk. @WordSesh is a completely only, 24-hour WordPress conference. I’ll post more details about that as they come.

At any of these events (and many more), those who show up will get a coupon for 35% off the price of my book, so come on by and say hi!
