MacBook and Me

MacBook

I’ve decided that this summer it is time for a new computer. I have had the trusty desktop for over 3 years now and the lappy is going on two. But this new computer is going to be different. It is more than likely going to be a Mac. I know some of you know of my distaste with Apple, but things can change, and they have made some major ones.

First of all, with the new Intel Macs, they are leaving some of their hardware operations to other companies, making them less proprietary. Also, with Bootcamp, you can put WinXP on the Intel Macs. Dual Booting XP and OS X is the dream of many, and I am getting there. I am a Microsoft Fan Boy at heart, but The Macs are pretty awesome. OS X is also really nice for Multimedia stuff, which I plan on getting into on top of web design. I want to get a MacBook, but there is one serious problem.

In all the reviews I’ve read, over heating is a serious problem. I have a laptop now that over heats sometimes with a cooling pad under it, and this laptop is not suppose to have an over heating problem. That does not bode well with me. I run a lot on my computers and expect a lot of them. Hopefully by the time I save enough money, the problem will be solved, because well, I REALLY want one. Later!

    Some Thoughts on Live Streaming

Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve tried to do webinars, and then live streams, on a regular basis. That fell off a little in the summer when my son was born, but now it’s picking up again. Now that we have a babysitter, I can even set a regular schedule. So here are some thought I have around live streaming, and how I’m trying to improve.

How I Launched Creator Courses in One Week

7 months ago I took my business full-time. Being a freelancer for most of my life, and even doing it full-time for a while after college, I thought I had a pretty good handle on how things would work. But as it turns out, the product space is a lot harder to work in than…

    WordPress Cyber Weekend Deals 2018

Well it’s that time of year, where there are lots of deals that I’d rather buy for myself than for others. I think nothing better encapsulates that than the digital deals going on in the WordPress /online worker space. I mean don’t get me wrong, I’d love to get a great deal on hosting. But…

  1. I went to the Mac Store with my friend and saw the new iMacs/macbooks, they’re pretty cool. The sales associate spoke of the imac as though it were a god. No viruses, no spyware, bla bla bla. I knew he had to be lying. My friend would have bought the darn thing (including MS Office for mac, mouse, etc) for $1500 (that she didn’t have) if I hadn’t warned her that it’s brand new and there could be problems with it. It would be really nice for Multimedia jobs though, you are definitely correct. I still would have a hard time adjusting to a MAC with the Apple and “swirly” symbol button instead of CTRL and ALT (although the iMac does have those keys). Good luck with your web development job. We can swap advice 😛
