See You at Podcast Movement!

The last few years, I’ve skipped out on Podcast Movement, and last year I had pretty hardcore FOMO.

So I decided this year I wouldn’t make the same mistake (it being geographically close made the decision much easier).

This week I’m heading down to DC for a week of podcasting talk and events and I couldn’t be more excited.

If you’re going to be there, I’d love to say hello! There are a few ways to connect:

  • I’ll be around, wearing my yellow Streamlined Solopreneur hat — so keep an eye out!
  • I’m also doing a number of Brain Dates about automation. If one fills up, don’t worry! I’ll be adding more.
  • You can also send me a DM on the PM app, Twitter, or LinkedIn. I’ll have them all installed on my phone, push notifications on!

My goal is to learn as much as I can about where podcasters spend too much time. And of-course meet awesome people.

But there’s also a late-breaking development on something I’ve been thinking about regarding podcast-specific communities.

There are lots of tools for this, including a new one I was excited about (I’m less excited now for reasons I may explain at some point). But nothing has really caught on.

So as I noodle on this, I’ll be talking to podcasters about that too.

If you’re not going to be there, don’t fret. I’m going to publish as regularly as I can over on the Podcast Workflows podcast feed. Listen and subscribe here.

One last thing — my latest episode of the podcast is a new installment in the 3 Things series: 3 Things I’m Struggling with for This Podcast.

It’s a good bit of introspection and I think you’ll enjoy it!

How to Get Yourself on Someone’s Podcast

Going on someone’s podcast can be a great way to establish your authority and promote your work, right? Wrong. Well…it is right, but it shouldn’t be your primary motive. Much like how the intentions behind your actions get you into The Good Place (I just finished Season 2 please don’t spoil it!), your intentions for…

Initial Impressions on the Kindle Scribe

Earlier this year, Amazon announced the Kindle Scribe — their competitor to the reMarkable 2. It’s more affordable, they had an initial deal for Prime members, and a good trade-in price for my Kindle Oasis. SO the $500 device got down to $238. I bought it. Here are my initial impressions.

  • How to get More Comfortable Recording a Podcast

Over the weekend, I gave a talk at WordCamp NYC about podcasting (you can see the slides here). While I generally get a bunch of fantastic questions, one really stood out this weekend. Travis Lima asked me (paraphrasing here), “How do you get more comfortable speaking into the microphone.” I loved it because while I…

  • A Mic For Every Stage Of Podcasting & Live Streaming

Recently I wrote about how to host a webinar or live stream, which entry level gear. But after my friend Rian reached out to me, I realized I don’t have a single resources with gear for every level. While my gift guide for podcasters has a lot of that info, it’s not super clear and…

    Reading Update: The Expectant Father

I finished reading the first of my 2 January Reading books on Friday: The Expectant Father. It’s a book that touts being the “ultimate guide for Dads-to-be” and as a Dad-to-be that knew very little about the role, I really appreciated how thorough it was. It takes the pregnancy month-by-month, telling you what’s going on with…
