Year: 2020

  • Launch Specific Parts of a Mac App with Stream Deck and Keyboard Maestro

Earlier this week in my Favorites of 2020 post, I bestowed the dubious honor of favorite gadget upon the Elgato Stream Deck. I love automation, and the flexibility of this bad boy to control not only aspects of my computer, but aspects of my home, is fantastic.

Well I recently picked up the Stream Deck XL and have a few extra buttons to play with now. One thing I thought would be interesting is to launch a specific note in Bear Notes. Turns out you can totally do that! Here’s how.

This is my 7th Annual Favorites Post. At some point I guess I should starting the posts like that! If you’re new here, I like to recap my favorite tech and media picks for the past year. I try to have them come out close to the year they’re picked, but that’s not always the case. It might just be the year I consumed them, or the year they got popular, as you’ll see with my gadget pick! Let’s get to it.

  • Favorites of 2020

It’s that time of year again! I round up my favorite media and tech picks of 2020 – but this year I’m doing it a little differently. Over on Casabona.org, I’ve written blog posts for the past several years, but I’ve never recorded my thoughts. So this year, along with a blog post, I decided to do a podcast episode too – this lets me ramble a little more and add some thoughts on 2021. I hope you enjoy!

  • The Year End Spend and Planning

It’s been a banner year for me and content. I managed to blog and make a video pretty much weekly, I’ve put out more podcast episodes, and I live stream weekly too. Plus, I put out several LinkedIn Learning courses, launched Podcast Liftoff, and published a book. Keeping up with that amount of content has been an interesting challenge, but luckily it’s December. This time of year, I generally think and talk about the same topics: end of the year planning, spending, and reflection.

  • Season 9 Recap

Well 2020 was unlike any year I’ve lived through, and I’m sure it’s the same for you. When I decided to come up with a theme for Season 9, which started in July, we were a couple of months into the global pandemic. I wanted focus on topics that could help you (and me) grow at a time where we were traveling less, seeing less foot traffic, and had to change in some way to make ends meet. I settled on coming up with good content, and using that content to evolve memberships, and build communities. If you didn’t catch every episode, here are the highlights.
