100 Words 009

A1NCnYrThjL._SL1500_I’ve been trying to read more; it isn’t working out the way I had hoped, but I’m still making the effort. I have started at least 3 books without finishing them, but right now I’m reading Gumption by Nick Offerman. I loved Paddle Your Own Canoe and couldn’t wait for the follow-up title by Ron Swanson.

It’s 21 essays about great Americans and how the exhibited gumption in their lives. I’ve made it through the Free Masons and am on Idealists. While preachy at times, I think it’s an excellent book so far. It’s definitely adding to my already long reading list.

Lately I have been receiving a lot of questions regarding the availability of my book, Building WordPress Themes from Scratch. I’ve been kicking around lots of ideas for my seemingly defunct TIL Podcast. Now that I have a nice new mic (Blue Yeti – thank you Prime Day) I’ve gotten a second (third?) wind for…

Book Review: HTML5 for Web Designers

Note: This article was published while I was in my early 20s. I was much younger and dumber. Please don’t hold it against me. One of the perils of having a 20+ year old website! HTML5 for Web Designers by Jeremy Keith is a book I pre-ordered when it was first announced and I finally got around…

Manfredball and the MLB’s Crisis of Confidence – The Dispatch

This piece by David Kagan at The Dispatch perfectly captures all of my issues with the MLB’s rule changes…and the clear evidence that Manfred doesn’t care about baseball. Finally, we have the ghost-runner rule, Manfred’s most notorious bastardization of the game. The rule places a base runner at second base to begin every extra-inning frame….

  • 3 Things I’m Grateful for (August 13, 2021)

3 things I’m grateful for, this second week of August, 2021: CleanShot X: This handy little app is a fantastic way to take screenshots, mark them up and then easily share them. But the killer feature for me is the ability to make gifs out of screencasts. It’s $29 (once) OR it comes with Setapp….
