Business Books Giveaway

You Can Win my Favorite Business Books

There are 2 absolute truths about me when it comes to books: I love reading and I don’t read enough. I try to read 18 books a year but generally end up around 12. I’m also of the opinion that I don’t read enough fiction. I focus mostly on Business books and US History. There have been a bunch of great books I’ve read in the last few years that really shaped my approach to running a business and how to grow it into something more sustainable without killing myself in the process. They’ve been so integral in the way I do things that I want help other people in the same way they helped me. That’s why I’m giving away 4 of my favorites. Enter after the jump.

2018 Summer Reading

My 2018 Summer Reading List

Well, Memorial Day Weekend is inexplicably here, and so is the unofficial start of Summer here in the states. The weather has been nice and I’ve been spending nights on my poach reading (when the Yankees aren’t on, of-course). I also feel more excited than usual for our annual vacation to the beach. So I’ve decided to publish my 2018 Summer Reading list earlier than usual.

My 2018 Learning Plan

My 2018 Learning Plan

Every so often I like to come up with a learning plan for the year/month/week. Last year’s didn’t work out the way I hoped for a number of reasons (like having a baby, and going solo). But this year I’m doubling my efforts and came up with a plan where I set aside at least 5 hours every week to learn. So what am I going to learn this year? Let’s take a look!

My Morning Routine & Free New eBook!

A month or so ago my friend Jonothon Kneeper reached out to me about my morning routine, mentioning that he was compling data for a book he was writing. I’m happy to say the book, Win Your Dayis live on Amazon and you can get it for free today (Feb. 4th)! It has lots of great information from all sorts of folks on how they start their day. I’ve always had an interest in morning routines and have placed a big focus on mine as a way to make sure I start my day off right.

An Intro to Freelance 101

One of my goals for 2016 is to publish a new book. I actually have 3 separate ideas, including an update to Responsive Design with WordPress. However, there is a book that I have wanted to put out for over 6 years, with a first draft already done. Originally called The Student Freelancer, it covers a lot about how to get started as a freelancer, from to setting up your business to pricing. It also covers how to make the most out of freelancing throughout school. I’ve decided to rename it Freelance 101 and release it this year.

100 Words 030

I finished reading Ready Player One yesterday, continuing my summer where I actually read books. It was a truly fantastic, easy, and entertaining book. I strongly recommend it.

I’ve really enjoyed taking time out of my day to just read. Usually I’ll go to my roof with a paperback and read up there, cigar in hand. There are no screens to distract me; just the sounds of the city, the sunset, and a book.

It’s a very peaceful experience and a nice way for me to log off for a couple of hours. I think I will keep it up.

100 Words 027

I’m getting the itch to write another book. It’s been about 2 years since I really got into the groove of writing Responsive Design with WordPress and about a year and a half since it came out.

I’ve been kicking around a lot of ideas to coincide with other projects I’m working on, including 100 Words and TIL Podcast. Perhaps a book of short stories or something.

I do have other ideas for tech books – specifically WordPress – but I want to seek a broader audience. I’m not sure I’m ready to write a fiction book yet, but something with more appeal, definitely.
