What’s on my Desk
Summer 2025:
The Great Rearrangement
Over the years, I’ve posted tours of my desk. I try to update it 2-3 times per year when significant hardware changes happen. Since the last update (Autumn 2024), my office has seen it’s greatest change in 6 years.
For the reasoning, check out this LinkedIn post. You can also see this time-lapse video.

My Current Desk
My current desk is a Fully Herman Miller Jarvis Standing Desk and I love it. The full specs are:
- 60 x 30″ Rectangle Top
- Wire Management Grommets with 1 Powered Grommet
- Silver Frame
- Mid Range Height
- Programmable Handset (the preset heights are totally worth it)
- Standing Mat
- Gray Cable Trays
I also have a side table from Flexispot that I use as my writing desk. That will be covered next!
Everything on my Desk
From left to right (more or less…if anything’s unclear, let me know):
- OBSBOT Tail 2 (Far left, on top of the speaker): The latest addition. I wanted a secondary camera that allowed me to take advantage of multiple “sets” with the rearrangement. This is great…and it works seamlessly with Ecamm Live for a true multi-cam setup.
- DT 770 Pro 250 ohm studio headphones (just off-camera): These are my daily studio monitors and headphones.
Elgato Key Lights : Now that I’ve moved my desk, I get perfectly even lighting with my Main and fill light. This is SO much better than the previous setup. My Air and Neo are off to the side, providing addition lighting in certain situations.- Rodecaster Pro 2: My interface and Mixer. It’s mounted on a standard VESA arm to keep it off my desk. I highly recommend it if you’re a podcaster!
- Elgato Wave Mic Arm: When I rearranged my office, I wanted a lower profile arm so that I could better set the mic in frame. This is working out great.
- Shure SM7B: My primary podcasting mic. I got a yellow windscreen to match the brand colors!
- Elgato Stream Deck XL: I love my Stream Deck. You can see exactly how it’s configured here.
- Penwell Craftsman by Good Made Better: I lovely pen holder modeled after inkwells.
- TRMNL: I picked up a TRMNL — a programmable Eink display — a month ago. It’s great for displaying data that isn’t constantly updating. I definitely want to do more with it. (PS- my link will get you $15 off!)
- Sony a6400: I picked this up to do better video work without relying on my iPhone. It has a Sigma 16mm fixed lens on it. You can see the whole Kit here.
- The Elgato Prompter: I hate most teleprompters, but the Elgato Prompter has been incredible. It’s the first teleprompter I’ve really used.
- Elgato Master Mount System: I’m pretty happy with the new mounting system that Elgato put out. Lots of flexible options!
- Gather Kit by Ugmonk: This is the best upgrade my desk has gotten in a while. There’s lots of components, but I get the Large stand, MagSafe Stand, and Zigzag Trey, all black. The whole thing is magnetic so I’ve affixed magnets to some of the other things on there.
- Capture System by Ugmonk: A quick way to capture ideas with good old-fashion index cards. Looks great with Gather!
- iPhone 16 Pro: The Standby Mode + Continuity Camera support makes this a mainstay on my desk. I dropped down from Max to regular Pro and am super happy with it.
- Apple Studio Display: The best monitor you can get for your Mac.
- Apple Magic Keyboard: The Keychron was too clicky for recording and I missed TouchID and a full Number Pad
- Apple’s Magic Trackpad: I’ve been trying this for the last few months for because the gestures are much better than the Logitech MX Master 3.
- 15″ M3 Macbook Air: I picked up the new Macbook Air this year and I’ve got to say: the bigger size is so, so good. It also fits nicely in the Gather’s shelf.
- William Hannah A5 Classic Notebook: This is my content planner. It’s pricey but SO worth it. It’s got lots of different refills and I use it every day. I use it for a little bit of everything.
- Sidekick Notepad: I love this thing. Sections for notes and tasks, fits perfectly under my keyboard.
- Stream Deck Neo: All of my Zoom and Tella buttons live here.
- Elgato Steam Deck Plus: More buttons – and knobs too! Maybe I have a problem?
- Mac Studio: This will be my new production machine for the next several years. Maxed out M1 Max, 64GB RAM, 4TB storage.
- 16TB Western Digital: For my Time Machine and miscellenous backups.
- AirPods Max (Blue): I was sick of all the issues I was having with other noise-canceling headphones –especially when it comes to device-switching. These fix those issues and sound fantastic. I usually use them plugged into to my Mac Studio for incredible sound quality.
- I’m still using the LAB22 Headphone Stand for these
- Shure SE215 PRO In-Ear Headphones: I wanted good in-ear monitors for when I record so I could comfortably wear my hat and these have been pretty good. I’ll likely test a couple more sets over the next few months.
- KRK Rokit 6 Studio Monitors: When I bought my house, I ditched my nearly 20-year-old computer speakers and picked up these amazing monitors. They sound incredible.
- On/In the Gather Stand: poker chips, misc pens/pencils (mostly from Studio Neat), notebooks and other office supplies. See my favorite stationary here.
- HMM Scissors from Ugmonk: As a stationery nerd, I’ve always wanted a nice set of scissors. Well, these fit the bill. They look and (more importantly) cut great!
- Branch Ergonomic Chair (Baltic): I’ve realized that the Steelcase Gesture is not for me. Luckily I didn’t pay full retail price for it, but it’s still a bummer. The Branch Ergonomic Chair is definitely built more for me.
Under the Desk
- Elevation Labs Anchor: Those headphones sit on the Anchor, which is attached to the bottom of my desk and looks fantastic.
My Writing Table
My writing desk is for focused work like writing, journaling, and planning. SO much so that I’ve moved most of the tech aside so it’s a nice, big writing space. The desk is a Flexispot E7*. I love it.
This has seen the least amount of changes. It’s basically in the same spot. The only real change is that the small side table next to it is in view now, so that’s been organized a bit better. I’ll name everything here left to right.

- Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber Lamp. I’ve had this for years. Happy it’s finally in-frame!
- Grogu/Baby Yoda Lego Set
- Darth Vader Helmet paperclip holder
- Gator Rack Cabinet: Houses a rack-mounted surge protecter that powers everything on that side of the office while hiding the cables.
- Miscellaneous books
- Cigar-aging barrel
- M4 iPad Pro 11″: I upgraded to the latest iPad this year and I’m super happy with it. The screen is fantastic, it’s noticeably smaller, and the new Apple Pencil is amazing.
- KU XIU iPad Stand: Not as good as the LAB22 Stand, which sadly doesn’t work with my new iPad, but the closest thing I could find to it. Adjustable height, it rotates, and it’s sturdy. Hugely helpful for reference text or a script I’m reading.
- Red Swingline…natch
- Millennium Falcon Statuette from Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
- Rocket Mic Lamp: I’m going to be honest. I bought this off a Facebook ad and no longer have a link to it. I really didn’t think I’d get it.
- A piece of the Berlin Wall that was gifted to me by my friend Nicole.
- R2D2 paperclip holder
- Leaning Tower of Pisa Lego Set
- Don Mattingly baseball card
- A Paul O’Neill autographed card with piece of in-game bat gifted to me by my friend Alex.
- Garrit Cole Top Gun Bobble Head
- Photos of my Family
- Panopad by Studio Neat
- Sperax Walking Pad,Under Desk Treadmill (under the table): I’ve wanted a desk treadmill for a couple of years now, and picked this up for nearly 50% off on Black Friday.
Wall Decor Lightning Round
- Disney Partner Statues Clock (made out of a record!)
- Haunted Mansion Art Deco picture
- Rocky Mountains National Park Print
- Photo of the final pitch thrown at Old Yankee Stadium (thrown by Mariano Rivera)
- Wandavision/Haunted Mansion Stretching Pictures mash-up
Other Surfaces
I also picked up this workbench, which sits to the right of my writing desk. It has my nespresso, Gather by Ugmonk v1, and misc chargers and photos. There’s also a dartboard above it.
The drawers are amazing. I usually just use the surface for lego builds.
My Fully Table is now at the back of my office, and is home to my Mac Mini, which I’m using as a server. My kids also do homework there.
Freeing up the far wall in my office allowed me to make it a planning wall. I have a reasonably-sized white board, and a Post-It Mini Easel Pad. I love that thing.
Here are a few different angles, as well as the whole space!

Not Pictured
- CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 Element Hub: I originally got this because I wanted a smaller footprint for my peripherals. It’s great behind the iPad, but I ended up continuing to use the TS3 so I can better distribute the cables.
- Samsung T7 SSD: I use this drive to house my Photos library. It looks like they’re phasing this out for the T9…so I know what I’m buying next…
- CalDigit TS3 Plus Docking Hub: I re-commissioned this since I was plugging a lot of stuff into the Mac Studio. It works like a charm…and it has a friend I’ll talk about in a second.
- Audio-Technica ART-M50X Headphones: These studio monitors have moved on to my electric drum set.
- Switchpod: I was pretty much instantly sold on this when I heard about it and absolutely love it. it’s lightweight yet sturdy, versatile, and very portable.
- CyberPower 1000VA UPS: Now that I have a desktop again, I don’t want a power outage to kill my work. This uninterruptible power supply does the trick (and probably more tricks than I need it to do).
- MagSafe Battery Pack: I honestly don’t care that people think it’s expensive. It’s very convenient!
- Key Light Mini: A portable smart light with a magnetic back. Great for supplying extra lighting as needed
- Anker MagGO Charging Station: This thing is SO clutch for keeping everything on my desk charged without running a bunch of wires.
- Stand for Apple Watch Charging Puck: With the Apple Watch Ultra and sleep tracking, I find myself charging the watch in smaller bursts, not just at night. So keep a stand handy in my office, just in case.
- Elevation Shelf XL Plus: This was great but got in the way a lot; I’ve replaced it with the Gather shelf.
Decommissioned
In case you’ve been here before and you’re wondering what happened to certain things, here’s a log of everything that’s been decommissioned since Fall 2021:
- Keychron K2 Mechanical Keyboard: I just like Apple’s keyboards better, and I’m not doing computer work on the writing desk anymore.
- Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700: The ones that Wix sent me from Wixgate. I ended up giving them to my brother after I picked up the AirPods Max.
- Satechi AirPods Pro Charger: This isn’t really decommissioned, but it’s not used too often.
- Twelve South HoverBar Duo (Gen 2): I love this, but the LAB22 Infinity Adjust Stand is so good.
- Stream Deck Pedal: Mostly for experiments. Now that the treadmill is under desk though, I don’t use it.
- ComfortLife Anti Fatigue Standing Mat: See above comment.
- Twelve South Curve: Now that I don’t keep my laptop on that desk, I don’t really need this.
- Rode PSA 1 Boom Arm: I got a new one!
- Twelve South Curve Riser: Replaced by Gather stand
- Keychron K2 Pro: I was feeling the itch for a clicky keyboard again, and picked up thus one.
- Analog by Ugmonk: I’ve moved my startup routine to Obsidian.
- LAB22 Infinity Adjust Stand: This is still the perfect stand, but it doesn’t work with the new iPad.
- Audio Technica AT8035 Condenser Mic: This used to be mounted on top of the camera, but I moved it onto a tripod so I can get it closer when I want an off-camera mic.
- HomePod Mini: This has moved to my daughter’s room.
- iPad Mini (Purple): I’m saving this for my youngest, but with the new iPad Pro, I don’t feel I need 2 iPads anymore.
- Elgato Wave Mic Arm (High Profile)
- Hexagonal Acoustic Panels: These have been decommissioned to make room for the planning wall.
- My gigantic whiteboard. It was too big.
Improvements/Goals
Every time I say I can’t think of something, I think of something. But I’m super pleased with this — the rearrangement needed to happen!
