15 Video Games that Will Stick with You

Note: This article was published while I was in my early 20s. I was much younger and dumber. Please don't hold it against me. One of the perils of having a 20+ year old website!

Got this from a Facebook Meme, then felt it would be a good blog post.

The rules: Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen video games you’ve played that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.”

Here we go!

1) Super Mario Brothers (NES): The classic of classics. My first game on my first system (it also came out the year I was born). I still play it and love every minute of it.

2) 007 GoldenEye (N64): Best N64 game ever? Great story (even with Natalia), awesome multiplayer, and lots of fun cheats. Changed the world of FPS.

3) Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (N64): YOU GET TO PILOT THE X-WING. Also, with the cheat codes you get to pilot the Naboo Fighter. Awesome.

4) Halo (xbox, 360): Do I even have to say anything?

5) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC): Loved this game so much- especially multiplayer.

6) Sonic Games (Genesis, Dreamcast): II, III and Sonic and Knuckles were amazing. Still play them. Sonic Adventures II for Dreamcast, with Shadow and Soaps and 3D awesomeness? Epic Win.

7) Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles (Dreamcast): You get to be Obi Wan, Mace Windu, and more.

8 ) Call of Duty 1 & 2 (PC, Xbox 360): Huge on campus tournaments (including a marathon 14 hour one on a snow day) will always be a defining moment of my freshman year thanks to Call of Duty 1. Then there was Call of Duty 2. This came out on the day Xbox came out and it was (and still is) great. I played the online multiplayer for years after, even when 3 and Modern Warfare were out.

9) Mariokart 64 (N64): Another classic 64 game. Lots of levels, weapons, and racers. And also Rainbow Road.

10) Super Smash Bros (N64, Game Cube, Wii): A Battle Royale of Nintendo’s best characters. Be Kirby. Seriously.

11) Rainbow Six (PC): This was my first PC game. I’ll never forget the level where you need to save hostages on a grounded plane.

12) Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (PC): Awesome, awesome first person shooter. This was the first game where I joined a “clan” and we played team matches online.

13) Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii): Amazing game on all accounts- graphics, game play, storyline. You get to be Vader’s secret apprentice. Chaos ensues.

14) Super Mario Bros 3 (NES): Best of the Super Mario Bros games. Another classic.

15) World of Warcraft/Warcraft III (PC): Hear me out on this. I only played the free month, but the game was super addictive. With Warcraft III, my friends and I would play over the network of our freshman dorm for hours on end, and we even competed in a Warcraft III Tournament.

So what games did I miss?

Give the Gift of Storytelling Through Podcasting

When I was in 5th grade, I had to do a report on a family member who immigrated to the United States. My maternal grandfather, Louis (Luigi) “Pop” Addorissio, was the only family I knew who did that. He came to the US from Italy in 1949, at the age of 19. I sadly don’t remember any…

    See You at Podcast Movement!

The last few years, I’ve skipped out on Podcast Movement, and last year I had pretty hardcore FOMO. So I decided this year I wouldn’t make the same mistake (it being geographically close made the decision much easier). This week I’m heading down to DC for a week of podcasting talk and events and I…
