Things That Annoy Me: Russell Brand

In a special edition of Things That Annoy Me, I want to talk about some British guy you’ve probably never heard of; but the Mtv nation has. See, Russell Brand hosted the VMAs last night, Mtv’s homage to crappy music videos and scantily clad pop stars. His message was clear: Sex and Ignorance.

See, Brand comes on stage and talks about how we should elect Barack Obama. Then calls Bush a ‘retarded cowboy fella’. Then says the Palin pregnancy is a PR stunt. He doesn’t tell people to educate themselves and to vote for who they think is right. And more importantly, who cares what he thinks. He can’t vote in this country. Maybe just stick to entertainment. Or not…

After the tirade on American politics, he makes the night about the Jonas Brothers and anyone else who’ve made it public that they want to wait until marriage to have sex. Because, as he put it, ‘a little sex never hurt anyone.’ He did mention safe sex. Once. Over 2 hours. As an afterthought. It’s not like his audience is impressionable teenagers who don’t know better. And yes- it should be up to the parents. But when you were 14, who were you more prone to listen to- your parents or that funny guy on the television.

So listen Brand, if you want to screw up a country, why don’t you make it your own country. What a dumb ass this guy is.
