Announcing WP in One Month WordPress Courses

I started WP in One Month almost a year ago, and since then it’s gone through 2 major evolutions; I wanted to find the right model. The first was moving from live classes to live webinars. Today, I’m excited to announce the next one: the addition of online WordPress courses.

Webinars and workshops were fun for a while, but I wanted WP in One Month to reach more people. After speaking to a few trusted folks in the WordPress community, I decided to pivot WP in One Month again. The goal: teach those who know how to use WordPress, and want to build stuff with WordPress. You can think of these courses as the 301 level, after WP101.

WP in One Month is an online learning resource for those who know how to use WordPress and want to learn how to make stuff using WordPress. As we add more, our courses will cover everything from how to use specific plugins to how to code your first theme.

This will allow me to consistently create content and keep courses up-to-date as WordPress and the tools evolve. I will also be able to teach on a broader range of topics.

The 1st Course: Build a Blog from Scratch

I’ve got big plans for the courses WP in One Month will offer, but the first course goes back to WordPress’ roots. It’s an in-depth class on how to build a WordPress blog completely from scratch: from registering the domain to making money.

blog-scratchWordPress’ first and foremost function when it was created was to be a blogging platform and it does that very well. In this course we go through the process of creating a blog from start (setting up a domain and hosting) to finish (great plugins and making money). Tips for creating and organizing content included! No coding required!

This is a great course to get your feet wet with setting up your very own website too. Not only will you learn how to configure WordPress and helpful themes and plugins; you will also learn how to develop great content, register your domain with Hover, and set up hosting with SiteGround through instructional videos. A sneak preview went out last week to newsletter subscribers. You can view it here.

Planning the Next Courses

The next courses in the pike are just as exciting! Coming up towards the end of September: Up and Running with Beaver Builder and Paid Memberships Pro 101. These courses will be cleaned up, focused, and extended versions of the live webinars.

Build a Site for Your Business

In late October, you’ll be able to take a course on how to set up a website for your business. This will cover picking a great theme, helpful plugins to run your business, removing the blog, and setting up a few pages to grab the attention of your visitors. Best of all, you will do this without having to code a single thing.

PHP for WordPress

The final course of the year will focus on the technical side of things, answering the question, “How much PHP do I need to know to start coding for WordPress?” We’ll look at basic PHP syntax, structures, functions, and some advanced topics. And we will do it all through the lense of how WordPress use them.

Check Out the new WP in One Month

This is the beginning of an awesome new chapter for WP in One Month; over the next few months I’ll be adding lots to the course catalog. Plus, memberships will roll out in early 2017. Build a Blog from Scratch is a great starting point, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg! Plus, for a limited time, the course is 50% off!
