Top 5 Things I Learned at Podcast Movement That Will Help All Aspects of my Business

Last week I was at Podcast Movement, a big 4 day conference that focuses on all things podcasting. I had a few goals in mind going into the conference – things I definitely wanted to focus on. While my show has seen great growth, I wanted to do even better; I know I can grow How I Built It through better engagement, and I wanted to get ideas. I also wanted to learn how to pitch show sponsors better. I’ve been grateful for the success I’ve seen by working with my network, but I don’t want to tap that well too much…so I need to grow. My Next Tech: Podcast Gear

Back in April, I walked you through my current podcast gear, which I’ve been enjoying! Start Your Podcast with The Podcast Starter Kit

When I was in grammar school my 2nd Grade teacher, Ms, McCullough,  came up to me and asked if I wanted to be in something called, “Drama Club.” I had no idea what that was, but she insisted that it would be fun and I’d be really good at it; I agreed, and we called my mom to get permission.

It turns out Drama Club was both fun, and I was good at it. My first role was a munchkin in The Wizard of Oz (I was very short). I stuck with Drama all throughout grammar and high school, ending my run in college. But it’s something that shaped me and something that I loved to do. I miss it a lot some days and feel part of the reason I love to teach and speak publicly is that it has the feeling of performing. There’s something else that I do that helps me ‘perform’: podcasting.
