Why Amazon Prime is so Great

Most of you probably know what Amazon Prime is and how it works, but if you don’t, the best way to describe it is an annual subscription that gives you free 2-Day shipping on orders from Amazon.com (+ some other perks). For the better part of a decade, you could pay $79 for Prime; in March they raised the fee to $99. At that price, it is still well worth it to me, and getting better every day. Here’s why.

First of all, I’ve placed around 60 orders this year on Amazon.com. I have an Amazon Rewards Visa and I can order just about anything short of perishables. So, for $99 a year, I’m getting free 2-day shipping on 60 orders (minus digital). That will save me between $150-200 (assuming around $5 shipping per order). Aside from that, Amazon Prime gives me:

  • Music Streaming
  • Cloud Storage, including Unlimited Photo Storage (just announced)
  • The Kindle Lending Library (I can borrow Kindle books)
  • Video Streaming

I was also able to buy the Fire Stick (Amazon’s version of Chromecast) for 50% off, and they recently announced that they are extending their shipping perks to partner sites.

A bunch of this stuff was just announced in the last few days, so I felt the urge to write about what makes Amazon Prime so great. It’s seriously the best $99 you can spend. So…what are you waiting for?
